About This Service
Emergency Call-Out
Some aquarium problems cannot wait until next week. A filter that has stopped working overnight. Fish that were fine yesterday and are gasping at the surface this morning. A leak that was not there when you went to bed. An ammonia spike that is climbing and you do not know how to bring it down safely. These situations feel urgent because they are urgent. Every hour matters. AquariumCraft provides an emergency call-out service for fish keepers across North West London. We respond as quickly as we can, come to you, assess what is happening and deal with it. We do not give you a list of things to try over the phone and hope for the best. We come out. We cover freshwater and saltwater emergencies. Tropical tanks, cold water tanks, reef and marine setups, planted aquascapes, koi ponds. If something has gone wrong and you need someone who knows what they are looking at to come and sort it out, we are the people to call. We are based in North West London and we cover Harrow, Wembley, Barnet, Finchley, Brent, Stanmore, Pinner and the surrounding areas. The sooner you call, the sooner we can get to you.

Who This Service Is For
This service works well for a wide range of fish keepers across North West London.
Fish Keepers with Sick or Dying Fish
Fish that were fine yesterday and are gasping or hiding today. We come out, assess what is happening and deal with it rather than giving you a list of things to try over the phone.
Equipment Failure
Filter stopped working overnight, heater failed, pump not running. We diagnose on the visit and carry common replacement parts to get the tank running again the same day where possible.
High-Value Livestock Owners
Koi keepers, reef tank enthusiasts and discus keepers cannot afford to wait days for help. Getting the right person out quickly is the difference between saving the tank and losing it.
Commercial Premises
A tank in a restaurant, hotel or dental practice that looks visibly wrong first thing in the morning needs attention that day. Commercial clients on our maintenance contract receive priority response.
How It Works
Call Us Immediately
Call us. Do not send a message and wait. If your tank has a problem that is actively harming fish, calling is always faster. Tell us what you are seeing, what type of tank you have and where you are. We will let you know when we can get to you and advise you on what to do while you wait.
We Arrive and Assess
When we arrive we assess the full situation before doing anything. We test the water, inspect the equipment and look at the fish carefully. We tell you what we have found before we begin any treatment or intervention. You always know what we are doing and why.
We Deal With the Problem
We address the immediate cause of the emergency during the visit. Water change where required, equipment repair or replacement, fish health treatment, leak containment. We bring common replacement parts and treatment products with us on every call-out.
Written Report and Follow-Up Plan
After the visit we leave you with a written summary of what we found, what we did and what you need to monitor in the days that follow. If a follow-up visit is needed we arrange it before we leave. We also explain what caused the problem and what to do differently to prevent it recurring.

Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly can you respond to an aquarium emergency?
In most cases we can reach you the same day for emergencies in our North West London coverage area. Response time depends on where you are, what time of day you call and what else we have on. We always tell you honestly how long we expect to be when you call rather than giving you a vague answer. If you are losing fish and time is genuinely critical, tell us that when you call and we will do everything we can to prioritise the visit.
My fish are gasping at the surface. What should I do right now?
Gasping at the surface usually indicates low oxygen, high ammonia, or gill damage from a parasite or chemical. The most important thing you can do immediately is increase surface agitation to get more oxygen into the water. If you have an air pump and airstone, put it in now. Turn off any CO2 injection if you run a planted tank. Do not add anything else to the water until we have tested it and identified the cause. Call us as soon as you have done this so we can get to you quickly.
Can you help if my aquarium is leaking?
Yes. We can come out to assess a leak and advise on immediate containment. A slow leak in a silicone seal is often manageable in the short term while a proper resealing job is arranged. A fast or structural leak is a different situation and may require the tank to be drained and the livestock moved urgently. We assess what you are dealing with when we arrive and tell you what the options are. We also carry out full resealing work as a separate service if that is what the tank needs.
What if my filter has stopped working overnight?
A filter that has stopped working is a serious problem because the beneficial bacteria in the filter media begin to die within hours without water flowing through them. Do not turn the filter off and on repeatedly. If the filter is completely dead, gently agitate the media in tank water to keep some oxygen moving through it while you wait for us. We bring common replacement parts and can often get a failed filter working again during the visit. If the filter needs replacing we can advise on the right unit and fit it the same day where possible.
Do you cover marine and reef tank emergencies?
Yes. Saltwater emergencies are often more urgent than freshwater ones because the chemistry is less forgiving and coral can decline very quickly once conditions shift. We carry saltwater testing equipment and attend marine and reef emergencies across North West London. If you have a coral bleaching event, a protein skimmer overflow, a salinity crash or any other saltwater crisis, call us rather than trying to fix it yourself without a full picture of what the parameters are doing.
