About This Service
Aquarium Maintenance
A healthy aquarium does not happen by itself. The water chemistry shifts constantly. Waste builds up in the substrate and the filter. Glass turns green. Equipment wears without showing obvious signs until something stops working. Fish that look fine one week can be under stress the next, and by the time it is visible the problem has been developing for days. Most people who own an aquarium enjoy it far more when someone else is taking care of it properly. That is not a criticism. It is just the reality. Keeping water quality stable, knowing what the parameters should be doing and catching problems early takes knowledge and consistency that takes years to build. AquariumCraft provides a professional aquarium maintenance service for homes and businesses across North West London. We visit on a regular schedule, carry out a thorough service on every appointment and keep your tank in the kind of condition that made you want one in the first place. We maintain all types of aquarium. Tropical freshwater tanks, cold water setups, reef and marine systems, planted aquascapes, large display tanks and commercial installations. Whatever you keep, we have the knowledge and equipment to look after it properly. People across Harrow, Wembley, Barnet, Finchley, Brent, Stanmore and the wider North West London area use our aquarium maintenance service because it works and because it frees them from the part of fish keeping that feels like a chore. How It Works
Get in Touch
Call or message us and tell us about your tank. Size, type, what livestock you keep, how long it has been running and what your current maintenance routine looks like. This gives us a clear picture before we visit.
First Visit and Assessment
On the first appointment we carry out a thorough assessment. We test all key water parameters, inspect the filter and all equipment and look carefully at the fish and livestock. We tell you what we find and what we recommend before we do anything.
We Agree a Schedule
From the assessment we agree a maintenance schedule based on what we actually see in the tank. Most freshwater tanks do well with a visit every 4 weeks. Marine and reef systems and heavily stocked tanks often benefit from fortnightly visits.
Ongoing Visits and Written Summaries
On every routine visit we carry out the full service. We bring our own testing equipment and consumables. After each visit we leave a written summary of what was done, what the water parameters were and anything you should know about.
Transparent Pricing
Simple, Fixed Pricing. No Hidden Charges.
Aquarium maintenance visits start from £45 for smaller tanks up to around 100 litres. Larger tanks, marine and reef systems, heavily planted setups and tanks requiring more time on each visit are priced accordingly. Customers who book a regular scheduled plan receive a small discount compared to one-off bookings. A regular schedule also means priority booking and the ability to track your tank chemistry over time, which makes it significantly easier to spot trends before they cause problems. We give you an exact price after a brief conversation about your tank. There are no call-out fees and no hidden charges. The price we quote is the price you pay.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often does an aquarium need professional maintenance?
For most freshwater setups, a visit every 4 weeks keeps the water quality stable and the tank in good condition. Tanks with a high number of fish, marine and reef systems, and tanks with known water quality issues often benefit from fortnightly visits. The right frequency depends on the specific tank rather than a general rule. We assess your setup on the first visit and recommend a schedule based on what we actually find, not what is convenient for us to suggest.
What is the difference between aquarium maintenance and aquarium cleaning?
Aquarium maintenance is the regular, scheduled service that keeps a tank running well over time. It covers water changes, parameter testing, filter servicing, glass cleaning and livestock checks on a routine basis. Aquarium cleaning typically refers to a more thorough or remedial clean, sometimes involving a full strip-down, heavy algae removal or deep substrate clean, carried out when a tank has been neglected or needs a more intensive reset. We offer both services and the two are often combined for customers who are starting fresh with a tank that needs work before routine maintenance begins.
Do I need to be at home for every visit?
You do need to be present for the first visit so we can go through the tank together and agree on the maintenance plan. For regular visits afterwards, many customers arrange access for us so we can carry out the service while they are at work. We are trusted to visit properties unaccompanied regularly and we always send a written summary of the visit so you know exactly what was done in your absence.
What if the water quality is very poor when you arrive?
It happens, and it is not a problem. If we arrive and find parameters that are significantly out of range we will address what we can during the visit and tell you clearly what needs to happen next. In some cases a larger corrective water change is needed. In others, a failing filter or an overstocking issue is the underlying cause and we will explain that. We never apply a quick fix without telling you what caused the problem, because without addressing the cause it will happen again.
Can you maintain a tank in my office or business?
Yes. We maintain aquariums in a wide range of commercial settings across North West London including offices, dental and medical waiting rooms, restaurants, hotels and retail spaces. Commercial visits can be arranged early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends if that works better for your premises. Business customers are welcome to enquire about a maintenance contract which sets out visit frequency, what each visit covers and a fixed monthly cost.
