About This Service
Removal and Disposal
Getting rid of a fish tank is not as straightforward as people expect. A large aquarium full of water can weigh well over 100 kilograms. The glass is fragile. The livestock needs to go somewhere. And there is equipment to deal with, filters, heaters, stands and cabinets, that cannot just go out with the recycling. Most people only realise how involved the process is when they are already committed to clearing the space. AquariumCraft offers a complete aquarium removal and disposal service across North West London. We handle the whole job from start to finish. We drain the tank, safely contain or rehome the fish and any other livestock, disconnect all equipment, dismantle the setup and carry everything out. We dispose of the tank and equipment responsibly, and wherever possible we rehome fish rather than dispose of them. People come to us for this service for all sorts of reasons. Moving house. Downsizing. A bereavement. A tank that has simply become too much to manage. Whatever the situation, we carry out the work carefully and without any fuss. If you are in Harrow, Barnet, Wembley, Finchley, Brent or anywhere across North West London and you need a tank removed, get in touch and we will give you a straightforward quote.

People Moving House
Cannot take the tank with you and the removal company will not touch it. We come in before the move date and clear the whole thing so the space is ready.
Property Clearances
A fish tank is often the one item that house clearance companies will not take. We will, and we handle it properly including responsible rehoming of livestock.
Hobby Changers
Keeping an aquarium well takes time and effort and sometimes life changes. We make the exit as clean and simple as possible with no judgement.
Commercial Premises
Businesses closing or relocating that need a tank removed from the premises. We can arrange visits outside normal business hours.
How It Works
Get in Touch With the Details
Contact us and tell us a few details about the tank. The approximate size, whether it is freshwater or saltwater, what livestock is in it and where it is located in the property. A photograph is helpful but not essential. We give you a fixed price based on that information.
We Drain and Contain the Livestock
On the day of the removal we drain the tank safely and contain the fish for transport. We handle the fish carefully and arrange rehoming where possible. We do not dispose of healthy livestock. We will always tell you what we plan to do with the fish before the job begins.
Full Dismantle and Carry Out
We dismantle the full setup including the tank, cabinet, equipment, substrate and décor. We carry everything out of the property carefully, taking the same care with walls, floors, banisters and doorways regardless of how straightforward or awkward the access is.
Responsible Disposal and Area Clear
We dispose of all materials responsibly and give the area a basic clean so the space is usable straight away. There are no return trips and nothing left for you to deal with. The whole job is completed in a single visit.

Larger tanks, saltwater setups with coral or specialist livestock, and tanks in difficult access locations are quoted individually. Frequently Asked Questions
Can you remove a large or very heavy aquarium from an upstairs room?
Yes. We carry out removals from upstairs rooms, basement flats and properties with narrow staircases regularly. We assess the access when you get in touch and factor any additional time or equipment into the quote. We take care not to damage walls, banisters or flooring during the removal.
What happens to the fish when you remove the tank?
We do not simply dispose of healthy fish. Where possible we rehome them with local fish keepers or hold them ourselves if we have space available. If you have a preference for where they go, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate that. We will always tell you what we plan to do with the livestock before the job begins.
Do I need to empty the tank before you arrive?
No. We handle the draining and everything else as part of the service. You do not need to do any preparation other than making sure we have access to the room. If the tank is still fully running with fish in it on the day we arrive, that is fine. We carry all the equipment needed to manage that safely.
Can you remove a saltwater or reef tank?
Yes. Saltwater and reef tank removals require more care, particularly where coral or sensitive livestock is involved, but we have experience carrying out these jobs. The price for a saltwater removal reflects the additional time and care required. Get in touch with details about your setup and we will give you an accurate quote.
Will you take the cabinet and stand as well as the tank?
Yes. We remove the full setup including the tank, cabinet, stand, sump, lights, filter equipment and anything else that was part of the installation. If there is something specific you want to keep, just let us know before the visit and we will leave it behind for you.
